Bill Hemmer: Duke Baxter, head coach, CEO of Zoned Sports Academy Baseball and Softball Training Center of New Jersey. How you doing, coach? Nice to see you. You've got three boys and one daughter. They want to stay active. What is your advice for millions of kids all across the country and their parents watching right now how to stay that way, coach?
Duke Baxter: Well, it's crazy to think you have a 28,000 square foot place you're usually used to seeing about 300 kids a day ...In smiley faces and dirty uniforms, but we're not inside. We're outside. So, what we've been doing is we've created some sidewalk workouts to where you can just take chalk, you can draw some speed ladders, agility ladders. You can make some zig-zags and you draw up a workout. So, it's 10 burpees, some skaters, some powers squats and you create work out. And all of our coaches have been sending that out to the teams.
Duke Baxter: We've also created a remote training program. It's a 21-day program that all you need is a wall and a ball and you can do over 60 drills so no matter what position you play in the ball field, baseball or softball, you can stay active and keep on working on your game.
Bill Hemmer: Oh. So, your kids are doing this, right? I'm assuming their doing it, right?
Duke Baxter: They sure are. They sure are doing it every single day. It's crazy. The kids, they want a routine.
Bill Hemmer: Yeah.
Duke Baxter: So, we have drills but they don't know how to tie it together, how many reps to do. So, we try to ... We're creating that for them and sending it out through Zoom, through all the different virtual ways for them.
Bill Hemmer: It's a great idea. Hey, Duke. How's your family doing during this? How are they figuring out how to ... Look, you can only work out for so many hours a day. How are they finding time to pass the time?
Duke Baxter: It's interesting because they're all in different grades so my wife has a very strict regimen of we're up at 7:30, 8:00 we're eating breakfast, 8:30 they're finished. We do family yoga from 9:00 to 9:30, which is amazing. If you can imagine six of us sitting on the floor in the kitchen while we're putting together our yoga routines. Then they start school from 9:00 to 11:00. They have lunch and then it's recess. We go outside and we workout. We're trying to make the best of it because kids are so used to routine, as are we. Adults, we're so used to going to work and having set schedules that all of a sudden, due to this it's ... We're kind of all out of a routine.
Bill Hemmer: Different world. Yeah.
Duke Baxter: Yeah. We're trying to put the routine back into their hands.
Bill Hemmer: Duke, thank you for sharing your story. I love your attitude. Stay positive.
Duke Baxter: Hey. Awesome.
Bill Hemmer: And thanks for being here today.
Duke Baxter: Thank you very much.
