What's the best way to prepare to transition to the big field in youth baseball

youth baseball big field

Any time your team transitions to a bigger field or gets older - means more struggles and more things to cover at practice.

Youth baseball and softball teams transition from Tee Ball to Coach Pitch, Coach Pitch to Player Pitch, Player Pitch to a Bigger Field, and in baseball they transition to a much bigger field at 13U! Controlling the running game, leading, stealing, positioning, backing up bases, how much time the defense has are all things that need to be addressed at practice. Coaches must understand rule changes and implement them into our practice plans. Monitoring pitch counts, working on timing for the hitters is also something that changes from year to year and needs to be a focus from the coaching staff.
